What is Staron?
Staron is a high-performance solid surface material manufactured by Lotte Chemical (formerly a Samsung brand). It is widely regarded as one of the top global competitors to DuPont's Corian.
It is an acrylic-based material (specifically a blend of natural minerals and pure acrylic resin) designed to offer the beauty of stone with the functional benefits of a modern composite.
Core Characteristics
Non-Porous & Hygienic: Because it has no pores, it does not absorb liquids, odors, or bacteria. This makes it NSF-51 certified for food preparation and a favorite for hospitals and laboratories.
Seamless Joins: Using special color-matched adhesives, installers can join two pieces of Staron so the seam is virtually invisible. This allows for long, "infinite" countertops and integrated sinks with no grout lines.
Thermoformable: Unlike natural stone or quartz, Staron can be heated and molded into curved shapes, 3D sculptures, or ergonomic furniture.
Repairable: Because the color and pattern run all the way through the material (homogeneous), scratches or minor burns can be sanded out by a professional to restore the surface to brand-new condition.
