HiMACS solid surface

Elevate Your Space with HIMACS Solid Surface

Experience the perfect fusion of durability and design. HIMACS is a premium, non-porous material offering seamless finishes and limitless thermoforming possibilities for stunning, hygienic, and high-performance architectural interiors.

What is HI-MACS?

HI-MACS (often stylized as HIMACS) is a high-performance "solid surface" material manufactured by LX Hausys (formerly LG Hausys). It is a composite material used primarily for countertops, wall cladding, and furniture.

Composition & Manufacturing

HIMACS is an advanced mix of roughly:

  • 70% Natural Minerals: Specifically Alumina Trihydrate (ATH) derived from bauxite.

  • 25% Acrylic Resin: (Polymethyl Methacrylate or PMMA), which provides flexibility and strength.

  • 5% Natural Pigments: For color and texture.

The "Thermal Cure" Process: Unlike some other solid surfaces, HIMACS undergoes a high-temperature heating process during manufacturing. This creates a denser, more homogeneous structure that improves durability and makes it more stable during fabrication.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Seamless Joining: Sheets can be glued together using a special color-matched adhesive. Once sanded, the joints become completely invisible, allowing for massive, continuous surfaces or integrated sinks with no crevices for dirt to hide.

  • Thermoformable: When heated, HIMACS becomes pliable. It can be bent into dramatic 3D curves, waves, or spirals, which is why it is a favorite for futuristic office desks and architectural features.

  • Non-Porous & Hygienic: The surface is totally solid with no pores. It won't absorb liquids, making it naturally resistant to stains, bacteria, mold, and viruses. It is NSF certified for food preparation areas and used extensively in hospitals.

  • Repairable & Renewable: Because the color goes all the way through the material, scratches or even small chips can be sanded out and polished back to their original state by a professional.

  • Translucency: Certain colors (like the Lucent or Opal series) allow light to pass through. Designers often backlight these surfaces to create glowing bars or signage
